Catch Up Club-April

Here we are on the last day of the month and it's time for Catch Up Club!  We are a group of friends who attend several virtual events together, and each of us subscribes to various monthly card kits.  We decided to designate the last day of each month as our Catch Up Day!

The idea is to go through our stash and create a card from an unfinished kit, class or subscription.

This month I chose two cards from a fantastic virtual event that we attend, Create & Connect by Pinkfresh Studio.  The classes were held February 25-26, 2023.

These cards were in a class taught by Heather Hoffman and feature their "Farm Fresh" stamps, dies and layering stencils.

Both cards also used their "Rounded and Braided Rectangles" dies.

This card shows the fine detail of the die cut and I included a pale blue panel on the inside to highlight it.

For this card, you use one of the dies and cut a mask for the card front. Then pale blue ink is blended, leaving the center part white, or very faintly blue.

I added clear Wink of Stella to make the jar sparkly.

Both cards have the flowers colored using the layering stencil. The sentiments combine gold embossed sentiments from the "Farm Fresh" stamp set and their gold Ombre Glitter Drops.

This is a lovely set and it will certainly get a lot of use from me!  Now I'm about an inch closer to being current, hahaha!

Pinkfresh Double Duty!

Here we are on the 22nd and that means it is time for another Double Duty Challenge.

This is a challenge created by Barb and I'm having a lot of fun playing along. On the 22nd of the month (note the double in the date) we have a predetermined stamp company or theme, and we are to make 2 different cards, using the same stamp set and as many of the same elements on each card.  Creating as many doubles as we can.

This month we feature any stamp set by Pinkfresh Studios. I used "Handpicked Flowers" stamps, dies, and stencils.

My first card is created by gold embossing the image, die cutting it and then blending inks onto it using the layering stencils.

I used "Ornate Banners" dies by Pinkfresh Studios to cut two background layers.  The pale yellow has a little ink blended around the edges to give it more definition.

The sentiment is also by Pinkfresh and is part of their Foiled Sentiments pack.  The card is embellished with three Ombre Glitter Drops by Pinkfresh Studios.

The second card features a gold embossed image (double duty) on a black panel.

The image is watercolored with some shimmery paints and die cut with "Ornate Banners" dies, layered onto a larger panel also from the same die set (double duty again)

This photo shows sequins for embellishments, however the sequins did not survive the flight back home. (This card was made at the No Foolin' Retreat organized by Barb)  I added the same Ombre Glitter drops used on the first card in place of the sequins (another double duty)

I really like how both of these cards turned out. I'll be using this set again, that's for sure!

Creative Crew-April

The Creative Crew is at it again with another challenge, hosted  by Carol.  She picked a great image to celebrate National Zoo Lover's Day on April 8th.  Here's my card:

Kit Contents:

Image: Artful Stamper--African Queen
DSP: giraffe paper is from African Safari Scrapbook paper (I found on Amazon) The other DSP came from my stash
Embellies: misc from my stash
Ribbons: all came from my stash

If you look closely, you can see that she included little eyelashes for the giraffes!  How great is that??!

Here's a peek at the inside panel.

Carol also asked us to post our favorite zoo animal.

Hmmmm...this is a hard one for me. After a lot of thought, I would have to say that penguins are right up there in the top 3, along with elephants and sea tortoises.

Hot Mess=Success for April

Hello friends!  Today is the 12th and it's time for another Hot Mess = Success card.  The challenge is to make any sort of card, as long as it is messy during the creation process.  Doesn't really matter how messy, or if anyone else considers it messy...just as long as you consider it messy.

Here's my card:

This card features a navy blue panel that has had Simon Hurley's Lunar Paste applied using a Hero Arts Stencil.  The color of the Lunar Paste is "Slippery When Wet" and the stencil is called "Daisy Mosaic".

The paste was applied using the wood handled blending tool by scrapbook.com with a sponge circle attached. (I don't know the exact name of the tool, but I suspect that all of you know what I'm talking about)

I sponged a solid layer of the Lunar Paste onto a scrap piece and die cut the sentiment using the "Thank You" script and background dies by Picket Fence Studios.  The base of the card stock is white with more of the Lunar Paste sponged around the edge to make the gold border.

I have to say, this was REALLY FUN! I will definitely be getting messy with Lunar Paste again!
